Historia biográfica
Jean Telfer graduated from U.B.C. in 1924, and subsequently trained as a teacher. Telfer worked in this role from 1931 to 1934 at the Morley Residential School in Alberta. In the late 1930s Telfer also worked at the Alberni Residential School in British Columbia.
Historial de custodia
Archival records and other materials were donated to the Museum of Anthropology by Telfer in 1979 and 1980. The donation was then divided between the Archives and the Museum’s Collections Department. Smaller photographs were stored in the archives though no case file was created, and the items were not formally accessioned by the archives until 2006. The textual records that formed part of the donation were stored in Parallel Accession files 537 and 609. In 2008 some textual records as well as two larger photographs were moved to the archives in order to preserve the records as well as to make them more easily accessible.
