Abaya Martin weaving

Abaya Martin weaving a Kwakwaka'wakw version of a Chilkat blanket. The loom was made by Mungo Martin. A picturre of two people appears superimposed over the image, possibly from two separate slides being stored next to each other.

File contains correspondence and art packages. The two art packages consists of Northwest Coast Art and The Whale House of the Chilkat. These packages contain historic photographs with full explanations, as well as high lighting the design elements. They were published by the Alaska State Museum.

Alert Bay

File consists of images of Alert Bay, a village located on Comorant Island, off of the northeast coast of Vancouver Island, BC. Subjects include a memorial and memorial pole raising for Kwakiutl Chief Mungo Martin, scenery from the area, a cemetery, totem poles, and Chief Johnson of Fort Rupert BC.
