Captain Cook Exhibit

Sub-series consists of textual records related to the exhibit on the voyages of Captain Cook to Nootka Sound. Included is the paper “Encounter 1778: Drawings and Watercolours of Nootka Sound by John Webber” by Natalie MacFarlane, exhibit scripts, video scripts, correspondence, and loan forms for the Webber drawings.

CD-Rom projects

Sub-series consists of textual records, including general research and planning files, permission forms, interviews and biographic information used by Dr. Halpin to develop a number of CD-Rom projects on native artists. The records also include a print out of the “Button Robes” cd-rom project on first nations form of traditional dress and the iconography behind them, and photographs, slides, compact disks, videos, and tapes from the Dorothy Grant project.

Committees

Sub-series consists of textual records related to Dr. Halpin’s participation on a number of committees while working at the museum. General committee records include meeting minutes, reports, and correspondence on the development of ethics and policies for the museum and new curricula in the Anthropology department. Records from the Research and Teaching Committee include budget reports, grant application forms, administrative records, and proposal reports for a new MA degree in Advanced Museum and Curatorial Studies.

Conferences and meetings

The series consists of records from the traveling exhibit “Tent of Meeting” and the “Sasquatch and Similar Phenomena” conference held May 1978 that Halpin developed and organized. The series includes correspondence, interdepartmental memorandas, conference paper abstracts, articles, book reviews, conference summaries, news releases, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, postcards, photographs, sew-on patches with Sasquatch figures on them, curators meetings papers, and audio cassettes of interviews and presentations from the Sasquatch conference.
