Subseries consists of records relating to the Jin Wah Sing Musical Association with a particular focus on the receipt of the B.C. Museums Association’s Award of Merit for 1994 and funding information. The records in this subseries consist of correspondence, notes, documents relating to museum objects acquisitions, and Cantonese Opera brochure.

Subseries consists of photographs from the event ‘Honouring Master Wong Toa’ which was held at the Museum of Anthropology (MOA), the Asian Library and Asian Centre and St. John’s College. The photographs were taken by Hayne Wai from the Chinese Canadian Historical Society. Subseries also contain the agenda for the event.

Subseries consists of records relating to the exhibit, "Hands of Our Ancestors: The Revival of Salish Weaving at Musqueam," which was installed at MOA from January 28 to July 20, 1986. The exhibit was co-curated by Wendy Grant and Debra Sparrow of the Musqueam Weavers, and Elizabeth Johnson of MOA. Subseries contains agreements, attendance figures, budgets, brochure, comment book (copy), contact lists, correspondence, curators’ statement, draft text for catalogue, ethical review application, exhibit layout diagrams, grant applications, memos, newspaper articles, notes, photographs, slides, published articles, receipts, research paper, speaking notes, transcripts of research interviews, schedules, and audio-taped interviews.

Collection consists of six compact discs with recordings of Hakka Mountain songs and laments, sung by Mrs. Yau Chan Shek-ying in 1976, along with accompanying documentation. Documentation includes lists of recordings with song descriptions, song translations/transcriptions, a photograph and bio of the singer, and articles collected by Elizabeth Lominska Johnson. The songs were sung in an older dialect of Hakka. Song types include marriage laments, mountain songs, and funeral laments.

Hakka mountain, or Hakka hill songs, are rural songs sung in the Hakka language by the Hakka people of Southern China. The songs vary in theme/subject, and exist as a kind of oral literature and/or communication at a distance.

Subseries relates to a proposed exhibition or portion of an exhibition which was to be called ‘Blue Thread an Installation by Gu Xiong’. The subseries includes correspondence, an exhibition catalogue of Gu Xiong’s work, a consent form, and newspaper photocopies.

Series consists of records relating to Elizabeth Johnson’s activities to obtain grant funding for a book on Salish weaving, research for monograph of preservation on Cantonese opera in Canada, Hakka urban village research, and collections documentation and research. Records include research and publication grant applications and reports, grant budgets, Salish weaving book, Cantonese Opera research, correspondence, and memoranda.

Subseries consists of one file relating to an exhibition, proposed by Grace Young to Elizabeth Johnson, on the subject of the wok. The subseries includes a drafted exhibition proposal, correspondence, printed images, magazine and newspaper clippings, notes and extracts from Young’s book The Breath of the Wok.

Series consists of records relating to Elizabeth Johnson’s statement of goals, and records relating to her projected activities as curator and her responsibilities for the MOA Archives outlined in a three-year plan. Records include statements of goals, program plans, memoranda, and correspondence.

Subseries consists of correspondence and transcription records relating to an interview with Musqueam weavers, Debra Sparrow and Robyn Sparrow.

Subseries consists of a memo to Elizabeth Johnson relating to the planning of a future exhibit in Gallery 3 which would show the relationship between MOA and leading NWC artists of the last century. Also included are lists of artists and relevant objects from the Museum of Anthology’s collections, which were considered for inclusion in the exhibit.

Subseries consists of records relating to two exhibits installed at MOA, in partnership with the Chinese Cultural Centre (CCC) and supported by a grant from the Festival Hong Kong 1992 Committee. "Contrasts: Hong Kong's New Territories in the Twentieth Century" is a photographic exhibit. It opened in Nov 1992, and continued in the lobby at MOA until May 23 1993. "Possessions from the Past" is an exhibit of Hakka artifacts. It opened in Nov 1992, and continued in the lobby at MOA until Mar 14 1993. Elizabeth Johnson was both curator and coordinator for these exhibits. They were also installed at the Chinese Cultural Centre. Subseries includes budgets, completed application form, CHIN printouts, contact lists, correspondence, draft exhibit proposal, final report, invitations, memos, name lists, notes, photographic negatives, receipts, and speaking notes.
