Subseries contains largely photographs of artworks of Northwest Coast First Nations artists located at various cultural heritage institutions as well as in private collections. The majority of the information within the files was collected by McLennan for research purposes, and includes textual documentation about the lives of the artists, correspondence with the artists, information about exhibits based on the artists’ work and newspaper clippings and other stories about the personal life of the artists.
Subseries consists of drawings created by Sawyer of various Northwest Coast masks housed in museums in North America and Europe. On each of these drawings, Sawyer notes the museum in which the mask is housed in, as well as each mask’s catalogue number. For some of the drawings, Sawyer provides additional information about the masks such as the First Nations community from which the mask originated from, its dimensions, the approximate dates of the mask’s creation, and other special features about the masks such as its coloring and/or any attachments included with the mask.
Sub-series consists of textual records kept by Duff as the Chair of the Department of Anthropology and Sociology Museum Program committee. Includes reports, correspondence, sample architectural renderings and four white prints of the Museum of Anthropology Phase 3, dated January 1975.
Sub-series consists of photographs and negatives of various artifacts, events and people. It is assumed that most were taken by Duff, although some are identified as acquired by others. Includes views of boxes and chests; plates, dishes and spoons; figures and groups; chiefs' seats and copper; frontlets, masks, rattles; housefronts and house posts; mortuaries; canes; canoes and paddles; panel pipes; Chilkat blanket and tunic; skin robe; slate objects; Raven Screen details; potlatch; picnic; and scenery.
Subseries includes photographic material collected to document the organizational memory of MOA. Photographs primarily depict the events and functions that have occurred in the museum, as well as events and functions that took place outside the museum that involved MOA or MOA staff members. The subseries also contains candid shots of MOA staff members, photographs of different parts of the museum, and photographs related to MOA that have made their way into the MOA archives.
