McDonald’s exhibit (Big Mac box)

Subseries contains images of the student exhibit titled <i>Show and Tell: The Story of the Big Mac Box</i> as well as negatives of the text panels for the exhibit. Students were part of the Anthropology 431 (Museum Principles and Methods) class.

3D scanning research

Subseries consists of research McLennan did regarding 3D scanning technology and its use in a museum setting. Records include photographs, 3D stereoscope cards, STS scanning technology information, UBC published materials on McLennan’s research and correspondence.

Expo '98 virtual exhibit

Subseries contains records related to the Expo ’98 virtual exhibit which was created and designed through the collaboration of the Haida community, Canadians museums (including MOA) and the Canadian Heritage Information Network. The exhibition featured the Haida community of the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii) and their relationship to the sea, from the past to the present and reflected the Expo ’98 theme of “Oceans: A Heritage for the Future.” Records include initial correspondence regarding the establishment of the collaborations involved with the exhibit, information regarding the exhibit itself and screen captures of the virtual interface.

Beadwork

Subseries consist of images showing a beaded object, possibly associated with the 1982 exhibition Beads: Selections from the Textile Collection of the Museum of Anthropology.

Haida house reconstruction

Subseries consists of photographs and textual records relating to and documenting the reconstruction of the roof and exterior of the Haida House at the MOA. Photographs depict the exterior of the Haida House pre-reconstruction as well as the surrounding totem poles. The accompanying textual records document proposals for the reconstruction, correspondence regarding materials, construction, financial documentation including proposed budgets and grant applications, and a UBC MOA Haida House Upgrade Proposal Report.

Expo '86 Pakistan pavilion

Subseries contains textual and photographic records of the Pakistan Pavilion at the 1986 World Expedition held in Vancouver, better known as Expo ‘86. McLennan contributed to the design, content and installation of this exhibit.

Transforming Image

Subseries contains records directly related to the planning, development and execution of the Transforming Image exhibit at MOA. Planning for the exhibit began in 1983 when grants were obtained to begin research on Northwest Coast paintings. The exhibit itself occurred in 1993. The exhibit was the end result of research and development of a technique to view severely faded Northwest Coast First Nations paintings and painted objects through the use of infrared technology. Records include correspondence and information requests, public relations files, grant application information, budgeting information, papers, conferences and publications about the Transforming Image, files related to the publishing of the Transforming Image book and school interest in the exhibit.

Due to its large volume, The Transforming Image subseries has been broken down further into sub- subseries: Administration records; Research files; Book related; and Institutional photographs.

Art of the Lesser Sunda Islands

One copy of booklet that contains photographs taken by Bill McLennan. The book was donated by it's author, Laurence A.G. Moss. Moss was a visiting curatorial fellow at MOA (under Marjorie Halpin) in the mid-1980s. During that time, Bill assisted Moss in taking photographs that ended up in this book and associated exhibition.

Teh full title of the book is Art of Lesser Sunda Islands: A Cultural Resource at Risk. The book contains 13 photographs by McLennan

Captain cook club

Subseries contains images of the unveiling of the club given to Captain Cook as well as research materials collected by McLennan on Captain Cook.
