Items on display in Montréal

Items from the Museum of Anthropology including house posts, feast dishes, a bentwood box, and model totem poles, on display in Montréal for the Northwest Coast exhibit for "Man and His World".

Bentwood boxes and other items

Bentwood boxes, a feast dish lid, and several masks and headdresses in the Great Hall or at the Crossroads in the Museum of Anthropology. These items may have been placed here temporarily as items were being moved into the new museum space.

Bentwood boxes

Bentwood boxes in the Museum of Anthropology's old location in the library basement. It appears these are being packed to be moved to the Museum of Anthropology's new location.

Model, B. Reid, Raven and Clam myth

Image of Bill Reid's small boxwood sculpture "The Raven Discovering Mankind in a Clam Shell," which he completed in 1970. He was later commissioned to make a much larger version of this sculpture for the Museum of Anthropology, which he titled "The Raven and the First Men."

Thunderbird carving, close up

Image depicts the top portion of what may be a small scale totem pole. The image depicted seems to be a Thunderbird, painted in black, white, red, green, and gold. There is another figure below this, but it is not discernible in this photo.

Two wood carvings

Image depicts two rectangular wooden panels carved with a variety of figures and crests. Central to both carvings is a figure with large ovoid eyes. These may be the McMichael lintels.
