Culture photographs

Subseries contains binders of copies of images that McLennan has ordered, and some cases paid for, from other institutions, in addition to some that he has taken himself. He has arranged them in binders according to culture. He created these binders as an easy reference system for faculty, students, community members, and artists to use when identifying and comparing cultural artistic styles, and traditional customs. First Nations included in the culture photographs include: Tsimshian, Haisla, Kwakwaka’wakw, Northern First Nations, Ktunaxa, Kinbasket, Okanagan, Salish, Tlingit, Tahltan, Tsilhqot’in, Secwepemc, Stl’atl’lmx, Nlaka’pamux, Heiltsuk, Nuxalk, Oweekeno, Gitxsan, Haida, Nuu-chah-nulth and Nisga’a. A file also pertains to differentiating between different styles of canoes.

Lyle Wilson

File contains images of Lyle Wilson's work as well was Wilson's notes regarding a canoe at the American Museum of Natural History and ephemera from an exhibit at the West Vancouver Museum titled <i>North Star: The Art of Lyle Wilson</i>.

Willie White

File contains images of the exhibit My Ancestors are Still Dancing. In addition are textual records relating to the exhibit such as budget and outlines.

Connie Watts

File contains images showing Connie Watts and her artworks displayed at the Museum of Anthropology and at other venues.

New visions: Susan Point by Karen Duffek

File contains images related to the house posts Susan Point was commisioned to create for the Museum of Anthropology. These posts were created to look similar but not exact replicas of the ones in the New York Museum of Natural History. In addition this file contains the records related to the publication "New Visions: Serigraphs by Susan A. Point" written by Karen Duffek. This publication is part of the MOA Museum Note series.

George Rammell

File contains a project promotion for an art instalation titled <i>Ursus Arctos / The Persistence of Instinct</i> by George Rammell.

Susan Point

File contains images of Susan Point and others working on two totem poles and the giant spindle whorl displayed at YVR airport. In addition are textual records relating to the design of these artworks.

Gordon Miller

File contains images of drawings done by Gordon Miller of objects in the museum as well as of totem poles and houses. All drawings were done on contract with the Museum of Anthropology, some became labels in the Great Hall.
