Alex Hanuse was born in 19[13?] in Alert Bay to hereditary Chief Harry Hanuse and Mary Deborah Charlie. His siblings included: Lucy Marion (Adawis) Hanuse, Annie Laura Hanuse, George Harry Hanuse, Alice Ethel Hanuse, Alfred James Hanuse, Daniel Edgar Hanuse, Frederick Clarence Hanuse, Florence Eleanor Hanuse, Wilfred Hanuse, and Stella Mae Hanuse. Alex married Gertrude (Gertie) Hanuse (nee Martin) on January 21, 1935. He was a logger and tragically drowned at the age of 37 in a boating accident on the Nimpkish River with his two brothers, Fred and Wildred Hanuse, on December 5, 1950.
