Public programme planning

Series consists of records created, received, and/or used by Rosa Ho in her capacity as Curator of Art and Public Programmes. Rosa Ho was responsible for the planning and production of the public programmes, exhibitions, performances, lecture series, film series, panel discussions, seminars and other events hosted by and produced in whole or in part by the Museum of Anthropology. Series includes records that document the planning and production of exhibitions, public programmes and events.
Series contains correspondence, memoranda, press releases, publications, photographs, photographic negatives, proposals, policy drafts, performance reports, newspaper clippings, brochures, financial statements, itineraries, meeting minutes, agendas, event schedules, lists of artists and speakers, budgets, reports, artifact lists, contact lists, handwritten notes, scholarly articles, exhibition programs, sign-up sheets, museum layouts, performance reports, recipes, audio tapes, questionnaires, announcement cards, art work, insurance waiver forms, artist statements, funding application forms, videos, and video transcriptions, postcards, posters, handbills, and other materials relating to public programme planning.

The series is arranged in the following 3 sub-series:
A. General, national and international public programmes (1987-1999): Subseries consists of records relating to planning and production of general, national, and international public programmes and events.
B. British Columbia First Nations public programmes (1985-1999): Subseries consists of records relating to the planning of British Columbia First Nations public programmes.
C. Brochures, posters, press releases (1980-1997): Subseries consists of records relating to a variety of media related publications for exhibitions, seminars, concerts, and programs.

External publications and projects

Series consists of records relating to Rosa Ho’s relations with individuals, organizations, and associations external to the Museum of Anthropology. Series contains correspondence, memoranda, newspaper clippings, photographs, publication drafts, conference records, and object lists.

Administration

Series consists of records relating to the general administrative activities and responsibilities of Rosa Ho in her capacity as Curator of Art and Public Programmes. Series contains correspondence, memoranda, reports, and committee records.

Exhibition planning

Series consists of records relating to exhibition planning carried out by Rosa Ho in her capacity as Curator of Art and Public programmes. Included in the records are planning records for exhibitions, installations, and performances hosted by and produced in whole or in part by the Museum of Anthropology.
Records include correspondence, memoranda, financial records, artist lists, object lists, artifact descriptions, exhibition programs, hand written notes, exhibition announcements, designs for labels, photographs, transcripts, grant proposals, loan agreements, artifacts, newspaper clippings, photocopied scholarly articles, a grant application for the “Chilcotin War” project, a Musqueam weaving proposal, a telephone transcription, an audio cassette and exhibition proposals.

Institutional planning

Series consist of records relating to the Museum of Anthropology’s planning and museum-wide policies. Records include minutes, agendas, drafts, memoranda, news releases, Museum strategic planning reports, budget reports, drafts, drafts of guidelines, and correspondence.

Museum of Anthropology committees

Series consists of records pertaining to committees associated with planning and administration at the Museum of Anthropology. Records relate to the following committees: the Acquisition committee, the Public Programmes and Education committee, the Repatriation committee, the Management committee, the Visual Arts and Museums Advisory committee, and the Ways and Means committee. Records include minutes, policy reports, proposal forms, budget proposals & reports, newspaper clippings, preservation reports, exhibition proposals, handwritten notes, reports on access issues, object lists, and correspondence.

Collections - information, acquisition and documentation

Series consists of records pertaining to the Museum of Anthropology’s collections and to legal issues surrounding the housing of cultural artifacts. Areas of focus include records on Chinese cultural property guidelines and the Shaw Collection, Inuit art and discussions on ownership of Archeological materials.
Records include minutes, email print outs, newspaper clippings written in Chinese characters, transcriptions of First Nations’ myths and legends, object lists, interview transcriptions, scholarly articles, correspondence, handwritten notes, consultation service forms, agendas, reports, audio cassettes and a b&w photograph.

Inuit research

Series consist of records relating to Inuit art exhibitions and Inuit customs for the Nunavut program. Records also include photographic documentation of an external exhibit entitled Contemporary Inuit Art.
Records include correspondence, photographs, negatives, slides, object lists, donor information, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, lists of artist names, a conservation survey, reports, a copy of a Societies Act for the Inuit Sanaugainut Katimajit society, a report by Ingo Hessel, and research material relating to the Museum of Anthropology’s collections on Inuit art.

Series consists of records pertaining to negotiations and discussions between the Museum of Anthropology and British Columbia First Nations’ peoples. Records include correspondence, photographs, transcriptions, notes, proposals, a permit, minutes, articles, reports, memorial service cards on Edward Sparrow Sr. and on Edna Suzanne Grant, education and curriculum development reports, reports on the Musqueam territory and its people, a copy of the Nisga'a Treaty and repatriation information, a transcription of a First Nations’ story of The One Horned Goat at TDA’IM’LAX’AMID/The Dolly Watts Story, a drawing and photograph of the Osaka sculpture, a contract outlining artwork negotiations between the Museum of Anthropology and British Columbia First Nations artists, the Baker Lake Arts Symposium, an audio recording of an interview with Roberta Kennedy and a report written by Robin Lawrence on A Westcoast Dance Screen: First Nations Perspective.

Pow Wow

Series consists of records created, received, and/or used by Lindy-Lou Flynn, a contract researcher hired by the Museum of Anthropology to work under the supervision of Rosa Ho. Lindy-Lou Flynn documented and conducted field-work on Pow-Wows in British Columbia and Washington State. The Pow-Wow research project focused on the role of Pow-Wows in the construction and perception of native identity. Records include a contract, funding and financial information, a final report, field notes, correspondences, colour slides, audio tapes and their summaries, a bibliography, artifacts, posters, a video, a photograph, signed release forms, scholarly articles, newspaper clippings, and brochures on the Pow-Wow 91 research project.

Volunteers and education

Series consists of records pertaining to the operations of the Volunteer Associates and to the Anthropology Shop Volunteers. Also included are records relating to education programming.
Series contains training guidelines, bibliographies, newspaper clippings, gallery- guided walk instructions, curriculum development records, exhibit pamphlets, correspondence, photocopies of scholarly articles, handwritten notes, course agenda, evaluation reports, tape cassettes, and training session reports.
