Asian Cultural Festival

File consists of photographs documenting Norman Tait and his crew of carvers preparing to take part in the Asian Cultural Festival in Vancouver. The event was hosted by the Vancouver Museum, and the images show Norman Tait leading a family meeting about the event, as well as preparation of regalia, and the event itself.

B&W duplicates of slides

File consists of black and white duplicates of colour slides taken by Jensen. Colour printing was expensive at the time, so Jensen printed the images in black and white to use for research purposes.

Background Info

File consists of maps and research on Stanley Park, describing the park's layout, its Indian Village, "squatters," and the potential removal of the totem poles.

Background materials

File consists of research notes and photocopied publications regarding Norman Tait, totem poles, masks, and relevant tools. Also includes an essay by Bill Reid on referring to sacred animals, invitations to a naming ceremony at Wilp's Tsa-ak Gallery, and contract materials for Norman Tait's carving of a totem pole for the New Native Education Centre.

B.C. Indian Language project

File consists of photographs taken for the B.C. Indian Language Project in Victoria, B.C. Jensen was asked to film Charlie Mack steaming a canoe on the Birkenhead River near Mt. Currie. While Jensen was filming, Dorothy Kennedy took large format negative coverage of the event. The file also includes photographs of Cora and Danny Wells' fish camp at the head of Lillooet Lake.
