This file consists of three bound papers about Cypriot pottery written by students of Paul Hockings and two sets of identical drawings depicting items discussed in the papers. The papers discuss if it is possible to detect regional differences between items from the Cesnola, Sid and Florence Leary Collection, and the Baron van Haersolte van den Doorn Collection. Papers were written while Hockings was Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

This file consists of two publications. One is an excerpt of the journal Man (now known as Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute) no. 80, from May 1963 containing the article “Ceramic Style in Prehistoric Cyprus” by Paul Hockings as well as several others. The other article is entitled “An Archaeological Discovery in Turkey” by James Mellaart and is published in the journal The Listener, dated from March 13, 1958.

This file consists of 1 photo envelope, 3 pages of notes (taken from File 1– Notes) on the 3x5 prints, and 124 photographic prints (108 35mm proofs and 16 3x5 prints). Photos are of items of item from the Cesnola Collection, Sid and Florence Leary Collection, and the Baron van Haersolte van den Doorn Collection. One photograph shows the "Classic Art of the Mediterranean" exhibit.

The records in this fonds were created by Paul Hockings and his students regarding MOA's Cesnola Collection, Sid and Florence Leary Collection, and the Baron van Haersolte van den Doorn Collection. Hockings’ notes, drawings, and photos were made while working at MOA with Audrey Hawthorn on an exhibit on Bronze Age Style in the Eastern Mediterranean. Most material was created in the spring of 1958 with a view to producing a monograph on the Cesnola Collection, though this was never finished. Included is Hockings’ 1963 article “Ceramic Style in Prehistoric Cyprus” and three students’ papers.
