Rounding the log

File consists of photographs documenting the first stage of log preparation for the creation of the Native Education Centre pole by Norman Tait and crew. This stage includes removing the bark, taking off the outer layer of wood, and making it round in preparation for the design to be added. Also included are images of the log being moved from Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast to the construction company's yard and finally to the carving shed at the University of British Columbia.

Capilano Mall totem poles

File consists of photographs documenting the carving and raising of two poles by Norman Tait and his crew at Capilano Mall. There was also an "extra" pole carved, depicting bear prints, to hide a beam at the back of the bear pole that would have been visible from several shops. The poles were raised on April 15 1986 and July 1 1986.

Eastern Gitxsan general

File consists of photographs of people, places, and events encountered by Jensen and Powell during the time they lived in Kispiox, BC. Many are of trips to nearby villages and sites hosted by Edith Gawa.

B&W duplicates of slides

File consists of black and white duplicates of colour slides taken by Jensen. Colour printing was expensive at the time, so Jensen printed the images in black and white to use for research purposes.

Western Gitxsan general

File consists of photographs of people, places, and events in the Western Gitxsan villages of Kitwancool (Gitanyow), Kitwanga (Gitwangak) and Gitsegukla (formerly Kitsegukla) during the time that Jensen and Powell lived there.

Bud Mintz artists

File consists of photographs of artists represented by Vancouver gallery owner Bud Mintz. Some of the photographs were taken at the Museum of Anthropology at a show organized by Mintz. Artists recorded in this file include: Robert Davidson, Reg Davidson, Phil Janze, Don Yeomans, and Norman Tait. A small number of photographs are not identified.

Leona Lattimer, Rodney Ward, Danny Dennis

File consists of photographs of Leona Lattimer with Rodney Ward and artist Danny Dennis in the shop at the Vancouver Museum. Lattimer ran the shop for many years and the photographs were taken on her last day at work.

Jim LaRose

File consists of photographs of trapper and woodcarver Jim LaRose in the Haida Gwaii (formerly Queen Charlotte Islands). The photographs show Jim carving a tiny, working pair of pliers from a match stick, as well as documenting the traps, pelts, etc. that filled his house.
