Provenancial Inquiries

Subseries consist of records relating to inquires made by individuals and families who are the hereditary owners of items which are now in the museums collection. Records include correspondence and notes.

Special projects and events

Series consists of records relating to special projects and events hosted by or produced in whole or in part by the Museum of Anthropology. Also included are records pertaining to special projects and events coordinated, proposed and/or chaired by Elizabeth Johnson. Records include memoranda, minutes, correspondence, request for funds, address lists, handwritten notes, a press release, donor proposal, budgets, object lists, invitation cards, business cards, photocopies of business cards, a photocopy of a newspaper article, draft reports, itineraries, financial records, maps, photographs, slides, oversized posters, audio cassettes, two CD-Rs and a condition report.

Ming Pau

Subseries consists of records relating to the Museum’s relationship with the Ming Pau Newspaper. In particular the records focus on funding given to the Museum by the newspaper for the 1993 homecoming event and an exhibition review done by the paper. The records include notes, correspondence and a photocopy of a newspaper page.

V.A.G. Delegation/ Emily Carr Asia Tour 1987/88

Subseries consists of records relating to a joint project of the Vancouver Art Gallery and the Museum of Anthropology to send a travelling exhibition of Emily Carr’s work and related material on a tour of Asia. Subseries consists of records relating to Elizabeth Johnson’s interaction with the Canadian Museums Association with a specific focus on the ‘Symposium of Cultural Diversity’ and on a mid-career development grant. Convergence 2002

Subseries consists of records relating to an event entitled Convergence hosted by the Handweavers Guild of America. In particular the records in this series focus on the Museum of Anthropology’s involvement and correspondence supporting the 2002 Convergence in Vancouver, hosted by the Greater Vancouver Weavers’ and Spinners’ Guild. Subseries consists of records relating to various images used by Elizabeth Johnson in publications. In particular the records focus on images relating to the Jin Wah Sing Musical Association and the Cantonese opera as well as images relating to the Indian Homemakers exhibition. Honouring Master Wong Toa [Restricted]

Subseries consists of photographs from the event ‘Honouring Master Wong Toa’ which was held at the Museum of Anthropology (MOA), the Asian Library and Asian Centre and St. John’s College. The photographs were taken by Hayne Wai from the Chinese Canadian Historical Society. Subseries also contain the agenda for the event.

Shuswap travelling exhibit and British Columbia Museums Association
