Subseries consists of material related to the production of Stewart's book The Adventures and Sufferings of John R. Jewitt: Captive of Maquinna, first published in 1995. This book contains the previously published narrative written by Jewitt (published in 1816), with annotations and illustrations by Stewart.
Item is a series of two photographs showing the rooftops of houses and a totem pole in the foreground. The pole is known as the Nispiq Pole. It belonged to Chief Simon Walkus, Sr. and tells of the origins of the Wuikinuxv people.
Two men recovering a house post from SG̱ang Gwaay (Anthony Island). This work was part of the "Ninstints Expedition" to recover eleven totem poles from the area.
