Pole raising in Haida Gwaii

Subseries contains one file that consists of photographs of six totem poles being raised in Haida Gwaii for the Qay’llnagaay Heritage Centre. The photographs comprise eight different incomplete rolls of film. The images depict First Nations people in regalia, other community members, and visitors all participating in the raising of the totem poles.

Port Alberni

File contains copies of correspondence between McLennan and Jean McIntosh, Director of the Alberni Valley Museum (AVM), regarding the Transforming Image Exhibit held at AVM in 1995. Also included in the file are copies of news releases and newsclippings about the exhibit.

Port Ed art symposium

File contains records relating to the organization of the first Aboriginal Art Symposium in Port Edward, BC. which occurred July 16-19 1992. McLennan spoke at this event.

Potential exhibit photographs

File mainly contains images of various indigenous people from around the world dressed in either traditional regalia or in Victorian dress during the turn of the 20th century. The textual records include two pages of a photocopied image and two separate museum exhibit programmes. The first programme is for the <i>Colonial Philippines Photographs 1860-1910 Exhibit</i> held at the Lowie Museum of Anthropology from May - June 1987. The second programme is for the <i>South Africa: The Cordoned Heart</i> exhibit which was organized by the International Centre of Photography in association with the Centre for Documentary Photography at Duke University and prepared for the Second Carnegie Inquiry into Poverty and Development in Southern Africa.

PR photos and copies

File contains images of bentwood boxes used for public relations for the exhibit. In addition are correspondence with the CBC, and a copy of pages from the guest book from the exhibit.

President's house

This subseries consists of images showing objects from the MOA on display at the president of the University of British Columbia’s house, and one textual record listing the labels for these objects.
