Private collections

File mainly contains images, both photographs and photocopies, of Northwest coast artifacts held by private donors. Other textual records include copies of correspondence from McLennan regarding pieces potential donors were interested in giving to MOA.

Private house NWC - Kerfoot

File contains images of a building being built. The building is adorned with NWC artwork. The textual records consist of correspondence, photocopies of newspaper clippings, and budget reports.

Private pole raising

This subseries contains one file that consists of images of a private pole raising. The mask in the photographs was carved by Jim Hart and is being danced by him. The mask is part of the MOA, UBC collection.

File contains the research materials for the project where McLennan acted as an adviser for the project. In addition, are images of Ruby Peter showing the process of mat making.

Projects and events

Series consists of records created by William McLennan in the course of planning and photographing various projects and events at MOA.

Projects are considered as having a longer duration, often occuring outside of the physical museum building, and in cooperation with other bodies. McLennan often liaised with First Nation communities and artists during the planning stages of projects.

Events are considered as having occurred over a short period of time. Events were attended by McLennan as a MOA representative and photograph.

On both projects and events McLennan took on larger roles in addition to photographer such as community liason, presenting on topics, and designer. Each project and event comprises their own sub-series.

Public relations

File mainly contains images of an elaborately decorated truck used in the Pakistan Pavilion at Expo 86. Other images include photos depicting a ship and the outside exterior of the Pavilion. The textual records include photocopies of newspaper articles written on the Pakistan Pavilion.
