Background info

File contains copies of webpages pertaining to the Lil'wat First Nations and the Skwxwú7mesh First Nations. These webpages contain information about one or both of the Nations, including the following: a brief overview of the history and culture of the Lil'wat and/or Skwxwú7mesh ; movements and protests; news stories involving the Lil'wat and/or the Skwxwú7mesh ; and/or maps of traditional territory of the Skwxwú7mesh First Nations.

BC Pavillion in Seville

Subseries contains photographs and textual records pertaining to the "Northwest Coast Indian Art Work" exhibit which was displayed at the BC Pavilion at the World's Fair in Seville Spain in 1992. The photo depict some of the artists involved in the project painting on a wooden screen. The textual records include copies of correspondence addressed to and written by McLennan about the artwork showcased at the World Fair. Other textual records include background information about the art work and brief biographies of the artists involved in the project.

Tlingit Long-tail canoe

File mainly contains textual records related to the Tlingit Long-tail Canoe Exhibit. Textual records mainly consist of photocopies of historical photographs of Tlingit canoes. Other textual records include copies of correspondence between McLennan and the Royal British Columbia Museum, where many of the images were obtained from, and information about the exhibit, including a promotional handout, and a project report.

The images contained in this file are historic photographs of Tlingit canoes.

Paintings by John Lafard

File contains images of a painting titled "Carrier of the Sweat Lodge" by John Laford. This painting was shown in the exhibit titled <i>Spirits in the Rock</i>.

File contains images of the First Nation artists involved with the <i>Through My Eyes</i> exhibit. The images show them looking at objects in the Vancouver Museum's collection. The artists shown in the photographs are Cyril Carpenter, Ben Davidson, Robert Davidson, Norman Tait, Isabel Rorick, Doreen Jensen, Judge Alfred Scow, Lyle Wilson, Dolly Watts, Bill Reid, Glen Tallio, Richard Hunt, Terry Starr, Tim Paul, Richard Summer, Dempsey Bob, Jim Hart, and William White.

Canoes

File contains a combination of historical and modern day images of canoes used by First Nation groups living on the Northwest Coast. The historical images contain images of village life and uses of the canoe in a historical context. The modern day images show canoes housed in various museums in Canada and the United States. The textual records contained in this file are photocopies of images of canoes, both from historical photographs and of modern day photographs.

RBCM [Royal BC Museum]

File contains images of Heiltsuk masks housed at the Royal British Columbia Museum. It also contains an image of an "Egyptian head with curly hair," and two postcards from the Field Museum of Natural History.

Project research

File contains the research materials for the project where McLennan acted as an adviser for the project. In addition, are images of Ruby Peter showing the process of mat making.

Canadian Museum of Civilization

File contains images of bentwood boxes housed at the Canadian Museum of Civilization (now the Canadian Museum of History). The textual records contained in this file are copies of catalogue records.
