Consists of Tsimshian language education materials produced by Margaret Seguin and Susan Marsden. The materials were used by Powell for research purposes during his work on the Gitxsan books.

File mainly contains copies of letters McLennan sent to various members of the Lax Kw'Alaams First Nations who contributed to the Tsimshian Treasures exhibit. There is also a copy of a paper titled "From ceremonial object to curio: Object Transformation at Port Simpson and Metlakatla, British Columbia in the nineteenth century."

This subseries consists of records related to the traveling exhibit that came to MOA called <i>Treasures of the Tsimshian from the Dundas Collection.</i> Records include draft correspondence, and draft exhibit photos and text (including case labels).

File contains print outs of catalogue records of Tsimshian artifacts featured in the Dundas Collection Exhibit hosted at MOA from February to June 2008.

Item is a map that shows Tsimshian territories, tribes, villages and sites, marked by arabic numbers. Includes Roman numerals indicating the territory of chiefs, by rank. Item appears to be a consolidation of information derived from the files of Marius Barbeau. Duff intended to produce a complete description of the social structure of Tsimshian tribes, and for that purpose mapped territories and village sites found in Barbeau's work. Duff refers to this project in a 1964 article (Anthropologica 1964:1, available in box 2, file 8) and in a progress report letter to Charles E. Borden, dated November 15, 1958 (available in Borden's papers, Box 51, file 49, U.B.C. Special Collections).

Item is a recording of Tsimshian songs recorded by the American anthropologist Dr. Viola Garfield (1899-1983) of the University of Washington. The songs in this recording were sung by Matthew Johnson (ca. 1867 - ?) who was one of the leading lineage heads of the G-spaxlo-‘ts tribe, and a great admirer of the lineage of the Tsimshian chief, Legaic” (Legaik, Legex). The title Legaic was carried by at least four chiefs of the Tsimshian Eage Clan. The last-known individual to carry the title took it in 1938.The cylinder numbers referenced during the recording are #14561, #14562, #14563, #14564 .

The Dr. Viola Garfield fonds is housed at the University of Washington Special Collections. She carried out field work in the summer of 1932, 1935 and 1937 at the Tsimshian village of Port Simpson, British Columbia. An Ediphone machine provided by the University of Washington Anthropology Department was used to record and store the songs on wax cylinders, which were deposited at the University. The recordings were transferred to the open reel format in 1971.
