Taking a trip to the store

According to the documentation included with the filmstrip, the description of the image states "These girls have taken the Vincent's speed boat from the Reserve wharf to the fuel wharf. They are going to shop at the store and pick up their mail. There are no roads or cars in Kyuquot, so to be able to get around every family must have at least one boat. Many families have a row boat, a motor boat, and a fish boat. Which boat would you take to the store?"

From all over the place, Chiklesaht totem pole

Image of the lower/middle portion of a totem pole at the village of Chiklesaht, on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island. This pole is featured on pages 126-127 of Carter's book "From History's Locker," with the caption: "The only standing totem left at the village of Chiklesaht. The carvings are Sea Otter, Seal and Bear... Bottom section of the same pole shows clearly the bear mother motif with her paws covering the eyes of a human face."
