File contains correspondence between McLennan and Glenbow Museum regarding photographic requisitions. There are also photocopies of some of images that McLennan wished to receive from Glenbow.
Subseries contains largely photographs of artworks of Northwest Coast First Nations artists located at various cultural heritage institutions as well as in private collections. The majority of the information within the files was collected by McLennan for research purposes, and includes textual documentation about the lives of the artists, correspondence with the artists, information about exhibits based on the artists’ work and newspaper clippings and other stories about the personal life of the artists.
File mainly consists of textual records pertaining to a researcher looking for information about a bracelet in her possession. Other textual records include photocopies of images of the bracelet in question. The photographs contained in this file are of other silver bracelets on display at the Glenbow Museum and the American Museum of Natural History.
The file contains a copy of the Fall/Winter 2010 edition of the <i>Sculptures Pacific,</i> publication, as well as correspondence between the BC Government, Post Secondary Education Division Applied Degrees Review Committee and McLennan and Anthony Shelton in support of the Freda Diesing Program at Northwest College.
Subseries contains resources acquired by McLennan due largely in his research interest in Northwest coast art and design. The series consists largely of photographs taken by McLennan during his travels to museums and archival institutions of artifacts. There are also collections of photographs acquired by McLennan from archival institutions which he had copied. Correspondence between professionals at museums and archives is also sometimes located within the file with the photographs. The museums and archives which have files in this subseries are geographically very diverse. As a note of interest, some objects were taken out especially for McLennan, when access to them by the general public would not normally be granted.
Series consists of records created and collected by McLennan relating to Bill Reid and his art held both in private collections and at the MOA. Projects included in these records are the installation of Raven and the First Men in the MOA and The Spirit of Haida Gwaii at the Vancouver International Airport. Photographs also document jewelry designed by Bill Reid, along with small sculptures, large scale sculptures, ivory and argillite works and drums.
Sub subseries consists of research files, including research conducted by McLennan at various museums and cultural heritage institutions regarding artifacts that could benefit from the infrared photography project Transforming Image, photographs of the exhibit at MOA and in Port Alberni and research on infrared photography.
Materials in this sub subseries relate to the production and publication of the Transforming Image book, written by McLennan and Karen Duffek based on the Transforming Image exhibit at MOA.
File contains research materials related to the Calvin Hunt - Tlingit Long tail Canoe Exhibit. These records include information includes photograph descriptions and credits and an exhibit concept proposal.
Subseries contains records directly related to the planning, development and execution of the Transforming Image exhibit at MOA. Planning for the exhibit began in 1983 when grants were obtained to begin research on Northwest Coast paintings. The exhibit itself occurred in 1993. The exhibit was the end result of research and development of a technique to view severely faded Northwest Coast First Nations paintings and painted objects through the use of infrared technology. Records include correspondence and information requests, public relations files, grant application information, budgeting information, papers, conferences and publications about the Transforming Image, files related to the publishing of the Transforming Image book and school interest in the exhibit.
Due to its large volume, The Transforming Image subseries has been broken down further into sub- subseries: Administration records; Research files; Book related; and Institutional photographs.
File contains a copy of the "Freda Diesing School 2009 Student Art Exhibition," invitation and programme, as well as an itinerary for the graduating exhibit. The file also contains copies of two applications of two students from the School to the <i>YVR Art Foundation Scholarship</i> program.
