Image of a pole from House 17 at Sgang Gwaay (Skunggwai). This is an interior pole from the Raven House. It was removed on a BC Totem Pole Preservation Committee trip in 1957. The pole is now part of the Museum of Anthropology's object collection (A50016).

File mainly contains historical images of Haida and Tlingit villages and totem poles located on the Northwest Coast of British Columbia and Alaska. There are also images of Haida and Tlingit peoples dressed in regalia. Other photos include images of Haida and Tlingit artifacts, such as bentwood boxes and carvings, housed in various museums around the world. There are also images of a modern day ceremony in front of some totem poles and long houses. The textual records include photocopies of images of totem poles and Haida and Tlingit villages.

According to George Read, Stanley Read's son, the pole in the image is the Half Way Out pole of Delgamuukw's house; the boy is Harry Brown, whose Gitxsan name is Xsuwii 'Guus.

Tall totem pole, Alert Bay, BC
Photograph of a totem pole in Alert Bay, BC. This pole has been called the world's tallest totem pole, though this is a disputed fact since it is actually comprised of two pieces. The pole is not specific to a particular family, but represents multiple tribes of the Kwakwaka'wakw. The pole was completed in the late 1960's and raised in 1973. It is located near the Big House.

View of a Kwakiutl totem pole on Alert Bay, Cormorant Island, British Columbia. Pole stands in Nimpkish Band Cemetery and was carved by Willie Seaweed with Joe Seaweed. It is a memorial to Billie Moon and was carved in 1931. It depicts a Thunderbird grasping the head of Dzoonokwa, a giantess. See also images a033236, a033247, and a033260, which also depict this pole.
