[Bill Reid's] Haida canoe - various photos, extras, or not being used

Negatives show the carving of Bill Reid's Lootaas (Loo Taas) canoe, which was carved in 1984 at MOA for Expo '86. The canoe now resides at the Haida Heritage Centre.

[Bill] Reid's Haida canoe photos 1984 Feb. - May

Photographs show the carving of Bill Reid's Lootaas (Loo Taas) canoe, which was carved in 1984 at MOA for Expo '86. The canoe now resides at the Haida Heritage Centre.

Note that accompanied photographs: "These are not Hilary Stewart photos - whose?" It is not clear who wrote this note. The negatives are in file 02 of this series.

Canoe label

File contains information about the Northwest Coast canoe including how they're made, their importance, and their history. There are also photocopied images of canoes from the Nuu-chah-nulth and the Kwakwaka'wakw communities.

Alaska State Museum

File contains correspondence and art packages. The two art packages consists of Northwest Coast Art and The Whale House of the Chilkat. These packages contain historic photographs with full explanations, as well as high lighting the design elements. They were published by the Alaska State Museum.

Cape Mudge

File contains images of masks, bowls, and textiles. In addition are correspondence with Joy Inglis and Marie Mauze.

BC Pavillion in Seville

Subseries contains photographs and textual records pertaining to the "Northwest Coast Indian Art Work" exhibit which was displayed at the BC Pavilion at the World's Fair in Seville Spain in 1992. The photo depict some of the artists involved in the project painting on a wooden screen. The textual records include copies of correspondence addressed to and written by McLennan about the artwork showcased at the World Fair. Other textual records include background information about the art work and brief biographies of the artists involved in the project.

Haisla Photos Kemano

File includes photos taken at a Eulachon camp along the Kemano River. Subjects include: the process of building the camp, making the eulachon oil, seagulls and sea lions feeding on eulachons, and boats fishing for eulachon.
