This file contains correspondences between Wilson Duff and Howard Schureman, Curator of the Riverside Municipal Museum (California). Shureman requests Duff's assistance in identifying a Northwest Coast wood carving. Schureman describes the object and indicates that slides were provided with the initial letter. A subsequent letter provides context on the acquisition of the object, its condition, and his concerns for its conservation. Duff's replies that the object appears to have been created prior to European contact, and provides several reasons for his hypothesis. Among his comments, he notes that it resembles pre-contact Tlingit pieces.
