The figure on the left is in city clothes and the figure on the right is wrapped in what appears to be a wool trade blanket.             An image of children sitting on a docked boat, other children standing and walking on the dock. According to the documentation included with the filmstrip, the description of the image states "Everyone going home on the school boat/fish boat "Betsy." The boat brings the children to school at nine o'clock and takes them home at three o'clock."

            Fonds consists of photographic prints and text labels used in the “Emergence from the Shadow: First Peoples’ Photographic Perspective” exhibit at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, from October 22, 1999 to January 6, 2002. The images depict several different First Nations groups including Haida, Kimsquit, Bella Coola, Ulkatcho-Carrier, Chilcotin, Assiniboine, and Gitksan. The label text incorporates information which Smith recorded at the time of creation. It gives name and age (if known) of the sitters as well as lineage, employment, and style of dress.

This pole is featured on pages 126-127 of Carter's book "From History's Locker," with the caption: "The only standing totem left at the village of Chiklesaht. The carvings are Sea Otter, Seal and Bear... Bottom section of the same pole shows clearly the bear mother motif with her paws covering the eyes of a human face."
