Fait partie de B.C. and Jessie Binnings fonds
Series consists of a voluminous amount of communication (approximately 270 letters) between both B.C. Binning and their friends and colleagues in Japan, predominantly Bishop Kojo Sakamoto, his family, and other friends and translators. The bulk of the communication occurs mostly around September 1966 onwards, when Sakamoto’s calligraphy was the focus of an exhibit at the University of British Columbia. Correspondence is presented in the form of letters, traditional scrolls, postcards, telegrams, notes, and a small amount of newspaper clippings.
Series is arranged chronologically by date, regardless of author. There are approximately eighteen correspondences that are undated that were all authored by Bishop and Kiyoko Sakamoto. These follow the dated correspondence.

Series consists of 6 scrapbooks assembled by the Binnings, either as commemorative souvenirs of their travels or as gifts to their Japanese friends overseas for a period of time covering over a decade. Scrapbooks consist predominantly of photographs, but also include brief notes and newspaper clippings. One file of textual records provides notes for a souvenir album assembled by B.C.

Subseries consists correspondence and communication between Hawthorn and individuals who were not representatives of another museum. There are several General Correspondence files, divided by year, and these consist primarily of people requesting that Audrey Hawthorn identify and price various objects, to recommend where to purchase NWC material, to speak at functions, and of requests for bibliographies. This subseries differs from subseries 10-B in that although the files may contain inquiries and requests, they often contain other types of correspondence as well. Record forms include correspondence, press releases, and ephemera.
Grizzly Bear House interior posts
Fait partie de Reverend Thomas Crosby fonds
Image depicts interior posts of the Grizzly Bear House, Masset, B. C. (same as in a039354). The posts are displayed with a Chilkat blanket, painted hat, and two daggers that probably belonged to Xa’na. The Chilkat blanket is draped over a box that may be the coffin box of Xa’na. Printed below the image is "R. Maynard, Artist". Printed on the verso is the photographer information with the inscription "R. Maynard, Photographic Artist, AND DEALER IN ALL KINDS OF PHOTOGRAPHIC MATERIALS, COR. OF DOUGLAS AND JOHNSON STS., VICTORIA, B. C. -- Views of British Columbia and Vancouver Island for Sale." A handwritten inscription reads "Indian Totems."
