Fonds consists of matted prints of engravings made from sketches created by John Webber as official artist on Captain James Cook’s third voyage. Prints depict landscapes, animals, people, clothing styles, architecture, and events that were encountered on the voyage in places such as New Zealand, the Friendly Islands (Tonga), the Sandwich Islands (the Hawaiian Islands), Nootka Sound (Vancouver Island, BC), and Van Dieman’s Land (Tasmania).

The collection consists of postcards depicting First Nations from Western Canada.

The fonds consists of four photographs taken by Richard Cotton of mortuary poles on an island in the Skeena River near Kitsilas, BC.

The fonds consists of photographs of Gloria Kaplan with various indigenous artists, whose names have been recorded in the image titles and IPTC metadata. The photographs were taken by Selig Kaplan with the intention of documenting the artists from whom the Kaplans acquired artwork or anticipated acquiring artwork from.

The fonds consists of records created by Ratner in the process of conceptualizing, developing and running public programming and extension services. Initially, the duties of the Extension Curator were coordinating the development of in-house exhibits, non-credit educational programming, extension activities and publicity. Programming included performances, workshops, lectures, non-credit courses, museum tours, identification clinics
and audio-visual presentations, often in conjunction with the Center for Continuing Education. Ratner organized local and international cultural excursions, including acting as a tour escort. Ratner was responsible for coordinating special events and lectures in conjunction with exhibits, and from 1980 was responsible for administering travelling exhibitions. Other extension activities included print exhibits in Vancouver office spaces, installations in off-campus locations such as the Vancouver Airport, and the Special Prison Extension Project.
Communications duties included production of the calendar of events and publicity circulars. Other duties included preparation of grant applications, managing staff, including student interns, budgeting, preparing reports, and assisting film and video production use of museum space and collections.
Public relations activities included establishing contacts with media representatives, promoting exhibits and other special events, producing news releases, distributing calendars of events and brochures, arranging staff interviews with media and soliciting publicity.

This collection is comprised of comment books generated from exhibits held at the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at the University of British Columbia. At each exhibit, a book is available in which viewers are welcome to write down their opinions about what they saw. The comment books are collections of the public’s opinions about exhibits held at MOA.

The fonds consists of records relating to Rosa Ho’s functions as a Curator of Art and Public Programmes at the Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. Records include correspondence, memoranda, handwritten notes, minutes, object lists, reports, brochures, press releases, newspaper clippings, interview transcripts and tapes, financial statements, grant applications, publication drafts, policy information, mission statements, and other materials. The records are predominantly from 1988 to 1999, while Rosa was the Curator of Art and Public Programmes. The records largely pertain to events, programming, and exhibitions held at the Museum of Anthropology. Also included in the fonds are records relating to external projects and publications.

The fonds consists of records created by Marjorie Halpin as Curator of Ethnology at the Museum of Anthropology with some records relating to her activities as professor of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. The records include correspondence, reports, memos, handwritten notes, newspaper clippings, published and unpublished papers, grant application forms, loan permission forms, financial statements, course outlines and bibliographies, curator’s meeting papers, photographs, negatives and slides.

Collection consists of the media -including photographs, sound recordings, and video recordings - that is about, by, or related to the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) and its collections. Media can be found in many collections and fonds in the MOA Archives; the media in this General Media collection are those that do not belong to a more specific archival collection, usually because their provenance is not known.

The collection is divided into three series based on media type:

The fonds consists of a file titled Tsimshian Totem Poles and contains 38 black and white photographs of Kitwancool totem poles.

The fonds consists of digitized photographs and slides taken by Lorna R. Marsden during her visit to northern Ethiopia in the late fall, winter, and spring of 1971-1972. Marsden traveled from Addis Ababa to Debre Libanos, Debre Markos, Bahar Dar, Gondar, Lalibela, Mekele, and Aksum. On this trip, Marsden purchased several objects, thirteen of which she later donated to the Museum of Anthropology in 2016. Photographs include images of buildings, landscapes, and cityscapes, historic and tourist sites, celebrations, marketplaces, objects and goods, scenes from everyday life in urban and rural northern Ethiopia, as well as other images related to or giving context to the donated objects. The photographs also show Marsden at historic sites and other locations in northern Ethiopia, with Ethiopian locals and her travelling companions, and with some of the donated objects.

The collection consists of research reports collected by Iris and Jack Lieber during their time in Africa and 5 Super 8 video reel tapes were collected during their time in Papua New Guinea. The research reports were written by students at the University of Ibadan, where Jack Lieber worked as a professor in the Department of Education. Reels include footage from schools and the community in Papua New Guinea. Collection also includes two books published by Jack Lieber, and a piece of correspondence sent to him.

Fonds consists of photographic prints and text labels used in the “Emergence from the Shadow: First Peoples’ Photographic Perspective” exhibit at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, from October 22, 1999 to January 6, 2002. The images depict several different First Nations groups including Haida, Kimsquit, Bella Coola, Ulkatcho-Carrier, Chilcotin, Assiniboine, and Gitksan. The label text incorporates information which Smith recorded at the time of creation. It gives name and age (if known) of the sitters as well as lineage, employment, and style of dress.

The fonds reflects Cunningham’s function as Manager, Design/Exhibits for MOA; his role in MOA facility planning and renovations; his position as an instructor in the Department of Anthropology at UBC; and involvement in other projects for MOA and external organizations. Fonds consists of records generated by Watson while working as an exhibit designer at the Museum of Anthropology. Material includes records generated during the preparation and documentation of exhibitions at the Museum, as well as records generated for two additional design projects undertaken by Watson during his tenure at MOA: the design of textile storage and display unit, 1980-1984; and the design of an extension to the west wing of MOA, 1988-1990.

The Wilson Duff papers consist of textual records, photographs, negatives, slides, maps, audio recordings, compact disks and one video tape that relate to Duff's activities, correspondences, and publications as one of the foremost researchers in Northwest coast Indian history, culture and traditions. Also included in the fonds are records relating to Duff’s work as an Anthropology professor at the University of British Columbia, his advisory and curatorial consultancy work, committee membership and the exhibit Images: Stone: B.C.

The fonds consists of 66 photographic prints, some of which are hand-coloured, stamped “B.W. Leeson Quatsino, B.C.”, labelled on the front or back with explanatory information, or signed in ink. One print of a longhouse is stamped “The Leeson Collection Copyright 1914.” The photographic subject matter relates to British Columbia’s Kwakwaka'wakw First Nations and the British Columbia landscape. Also included is a copy of Portraits of the Indians of Quatsino by Benjamin W. Leeson (Kit #20) by Susan Roper, produced by the Research Project on Early B.C. Photography at the Vancouver Public Library around 1972, and 23 duplicate slides which accompany it.
