This file contains correspondences to Wilson Duff from Laura Greenberg, a doctoral student in the Dept. of Anthropology at UBC. The majority of correspondences appear to be from her time as a pre-doctoral fellow at the Smithsonian Institution. Many letters are personal correspondences, although there are discussions of job searches, copies of Greenberg's curriculum Vitae (CV) and application letters, among other content. Other letters deal specifically with her thesis research into Northwest Coast art, and the file includes various photocopied, sketched, and annotated images of objects, some with multiple overlays on transparency sheets. Most are from the Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian, and primarily represent bentwood bowls and dishes or horned spoons. Although little information is provided about communities or artists, catalogue IDs are listed. The interpretive focus of these objects in their correspondences emphasize themes of transformation and sexual readings of Northwest Coast motifs. Several pages also discuss research on Hopi and Chinese art.
