Photographs

Series contains photographs collected for curatorial research by MOA staff, mostly relating to First Nations geographical areas, cultures, and artists. The series also includes photographs documenting MOA activities, staff, and volunteers.

The photographs are organized into two subseries:
A. Early MOA activities and curatorial research
B. MOA Activities, 1976 and later

CFI Partnership of peoples project

Series contains records pertaining to the Canada Foundation for Innovation grant named Partnership of Peoples that was awarded to the Museum of Anthropology in 2007. This project is often simply referred to by museum staff as 'the renewal'. David Cunningham was the lead project designer. His records include the architectural drawings from Stantec and Laboratorio Museotecnico Goppion, research and planning on furniture, lighting, locks, and security. In addition are photographs taken of all stages of the project.

Photographs

Series contains photographs taken by Cunningham of the inside and outside of the building, exhibit cases, exhibit spaces, and other institutions.

Series consists of correspondence and memoranda, reports, handwritten notations, draft copies, cue cards, comment book, photographs, negatives, contact sheets, slides, application grants specific to exhibitions and other textual and graphic records related to the preparation of exhibitions within the Museum.

Museum history files

Series consists of correspondence, memoranda, guest lists, invitations, press releases, newspaper clippings, calculations, photographs and other textual material related to various events at the Museum of Anthropology, including the Museum’s official opening in 1976 and Prince Charles’ visit to the Museum for the unveiling of The Raven. Also included are publications about the Museum written by various staff members, drafts of Audrey Hawthorn’s manuscript which was eventually published as A Labour of Love and other records relating to grant applications, research and editing for this book.

Series consists of records relating to special projects and events hosted by or produced in whole or in part by the Museum of Anthropology. Records include correspondence, notes, reports, proposals, memoranda, programs and itineraries, topographical maps, minutes, agreements, business cards, brochures, and project summaries.

Facilities and services

This series consists of material relating to the physical environment in which the museum operates. Series is further arranged into subseries, with the records in the subseries arranged chronologically. The records in the series are composed of photographs, work order forms, correspondence, and memoranda. Subseries consists of correspondence, memoranda, plans, financial documents, design plans, minutes, budgets, notes, and contracts.

The series is arranged into three subseries:
Subseries A: General
Subseries B: Building Maintenance
Subseries C: Building Projects and Plans

Collections

Series consists of material relating to the objects at MOA, how they were found, purchased, donated or otherwise acquired. Material relates to original owners of objects and, where appropriate, monies paid for pieces added to the collection. Series also relates to loaning of museum objects, borrowing of objects belonging to other people or organizations and any treatment items may have received. The series has been arranged chronologically by date within each subseries. The records in this series take the form of the ledgers correspondence, memos, receipts, borrower’s agreements, photographs, and newspaper clippings, notes, negatives, invoices, ephemera, student papers, memoranda and plans.

Conference Records

Series consists of correspondence, task lists, evaluations summary, reports, internship program draft, and agendas from two conferences attended by Stott, the “Preserving our Heritage Workshop” and “CMA Trainer’s Workshop”.

School Programs Records

Series consists of correspondence, memorandums, student evaluations, student observation data, and reports of the school programs offered by MoA. Series contains brochures for other institutions’ school programs, drafts and final version of education research proposal, as well as school bookings and tour handouts.

Public Programs Records

Series consists of MoA publications that describe the museum’s public programs. Series also contains background information for Haida House programs. Series contains brochures, tabulated results, and the master copy of the miniguide survey. Series includes guidebook additions and published materials.

Financial Records

Series consists of records pertaining to MoA fund raising and grant applications. Series includes copies of correspondence with other curators and a directory to foundations. Series contains information and a copy of a MoA grant proposal.

Interviews and Event Recording

Series includes audio and video interviews with Agnes Alfred and other members of the Kwakwaka'wakw community. Series also includes translations of some of those interviews or sections by Daisy Sewid-Smith
