Series consists of correspondence, memoranda, meeting minutes & agendas, draft & final copies of the museum’s exhibitions, programs and building plans, printed presentation slides, invitations, magazine & journal articles, brochures, handwritten notes, and other textual records related to the administrative activities and responsibilities regarding the Museum of Anthropology’s External Advisory Board. The Advisory Board, comprised of experts from various diverse cultural backgrounds, was established in order to help decide and shape the Museum’s direction and promote support within local, national and international communities. The Advisory Board was active from 2007-2013 and re-activated in 2019.
Also included in this series are Board members’ recruitment files consisting of biographical information and curriculum vitae.

Series consists of textual records, photographs, and other graphic material related to the advertising and promotional activities of the Public Relations and Communications Office, as well as its function as liaison with the media and its use of various forms of media to communicate with the public. Includes records relating to Museum of Anthropology advertisements and publicity, as well as records related to the Office’s media contacts and relations, television and film projects filmed at the museum, as well as records related to the production and distribution of Museum of Anthropology publications.

Series consists of correspondence, interdepartmental memoranda, loan requests and commissions, exhibit receipts, exhibit proposals and forms including blank forms, policy drafts, news releases, pamphlets, minutes of committee meetings, budgets, agendas, exhibition and gallery schedules, exhibition lists, facility reports, expense claims, installation invoice, handwritten notations, photographs, and slides. These records relate to the administrative duties carried out by Carol Mayer either in relation to exhibitions or other miscellaneous events such as courses taught at Emily Carr College of Art and Design, conference planning and participation on a provincial Task Force on Museum and First Nations.

This series consists of records created, received, and/or used by the staff responsible for school programming.

The series includes records which document the creation, organization, administration and execution of educational programming for students. The series contains the following kinds of records: correspondence, memoranda, press releases, school kits, teachers’ notes, educational program instructions, publications, evaluation reports, newspaper clippings, promotional brochures and handouts, interviews, interview consent forms, media consent forms, photographs, audio and video recordings, and other material related to school programs.

Series reflects Cunningham’s involvement in facility planning at MOA. This includes the development of the Gallery 10 orientation centre, visible storage area, and Gallery 3 development, as well as renovations to Gallery 5, theatre, the Great Hall, and the gift shop. Records in this series include blueline print, budgets, invoices, measurements, memoranda, plans, reports, and tender drawings.

Series consists of artists’ statements, cards, diagrams, lecture notes, pamphlets, reports, student assignments, and syllabi relating to David Dunnett Cunningham’s responsibility as an instructor of Anthropology 431: Museum Principles and Techniques, and 432: The Anthropology of Public Representation, and a community course, Introduction to the Museum of Anthropology.

Series consists of correspondence and memoranda, minutes, reports, contracts and agreements, handwritten notations, draft copies, newspaper clippings, photographs, slides, and other textual and graphic records related to the general administration of the museum and the administrative activities and responsibilities of the Director. Includes records related to museum policies and procedures and their development, the planning of museum activities and goals, the evaluation and accountability of the museum, including files containing museum annual report information and files regarding reviews of the museum, records regarding contracts and agreements made by the museum, and records related to various museum committees. Series consists of records relating to display units and museum exhibits that were done by students of Anthropology 431 and Anthropology 432 (course titles included Museum Practice and Curatorship, Anthropology of Public Presentation, and Museum Studies and Principles). Series consists of records created and collected by McLennan in the course of research on Northwest coast art. McLennan kept files related to research conducted in other museums and archives, on artists he came into contact with, and a series of photographs depicting art styles and objects complied and organized by culture, and ideas and research for books. Each of these comprises its own sub-series.

Series documents Cunningham’s responsibilities as exhibits designer, and consists of records related to the planning and implementation of various exhibits since the late 1980s. In addition to his role as designer, Cunningham has also been involved in producing exhibit proposals; assisting with travelling exhibits; and developing exhibition policies and guidelines. Records include artists’ statements and artwork; banners; calligraphy; case lists; contact prints/proofs; contracts; correspondence; exhibition catalogues; exhibition panels; exhibition proposals; exhibition text; guidelines; invitations; labels; loan agreements; measurements; memoranda; minutes; negatives; object lists; photographs; photocopy of artworks; plans; policies; reports; schedules; and sketches.

Series consists of records relating to Skooker Broome’s responsibilities as a liaison and coordinator of the Museum of Anthropology’s facilities and services. Areas of focus include building maintenance and renovations, and public works. Records include architectural drawings and presentation boards for proposed facility renovations, correspondence, memoranda, and minutes.

Series is composed of sourcebooks and related materials such as correspondence, consent forms, research notes, and exhibit design stemming from sourcebooks. Sourcebooks in this series were created under the guidance of Pam Brown. Many of the source books were created through the Aboriginal Museum Internship Programme and are often either autobiographical or offer perspectives and insights into the Aboriginal interns’ communities and lives. Other sourcebooks were produced in conjunction with First Nations artists. Though most of the sourcebooks were originally laminated or bound in binders, in 2011 and 2012, MOA published four hard cover copies of the sourcebooks, which are also included in the Series.

Series consists of records created by William McLennan in the course of planning and photographing various projects and events at MOA.

Projects are considered as having a longer duration, often occuring outside of the physical museum building, and in cooperation with other bodies. McLennan often liaised with First Nation communities and artists during the planning stages of projects.

Events are considered as having occurred over a short period of time. Events were attended by McLennan as a MOA representative and photograph.

On both projects and events McLennan took on larger roles in addition to photographer such as community liason, presenting on topics, and designer. Each project and event comprises their own sub-series.

Series consists of records relating to McLennan’s administrative role as a curator at the MOA, including public relations (interviews given, lectures given, publications about the museum and his work), annual reports and correspondence (inquiries from interested parties regarding certain artifacts, events, people and donations at the museum). The majority of this series presents itself in textual records, however there are also digital records included as well. There are a large number of digital images in the file ‘Photographs’ which depict various stages in the museum development of MOA, significant artists, MOA grounds and landscape, special events and visitors and milestone occasions.

Series includes records created, received, and/or set aside by Pam Brown and her predecessor Anne-Marie Fenger in the course of their duties as supervisors of the Native Youth Programme (NYP, also called the Native Youth Project). Since 1999 Pam Brown has supervised the Native Youth Programme (NYP, formerly called the Native Youth Project), which aims to provide First Nations high school students with the opportunity to gain leadership and public speaking skills through a season of full-time employment as cultural interpreters at MOA. Brown’s responsibilities as NYP supervisor include securing funding for the employment of a program coordinator and six students and overseeing their training. The NYP was originally founded in 1979 by MOA curator Madeline Bronsdon-Rowan, who served as the program’s first supervisor. Bronsdon-Rowan retired in 1987 and was succeeded by Anne-Marie Fenger, whose records Brown subsequently inherited.

The records in this series document the organization and administration of the Native Youth Programme and the functions and activities of the NYP supervisor, including: student worker recruitment and training, educational programs and presentations, grants and funding, public events (including fundraising), field trips, publicity, and conference planning.

Records in this series include correspondence, memoranda, reports, press clippings, grant applications, press releases, schedules, liability waivers, study trip itineraries, public comment books, student assignments, scripts for student presentations, photographs, and audio recordings.

Series consists of records created by McLennan in the course of planning and designing various exhibits, both at MOA and on behalf of MOA for other institutions such as the World Expo in 1986. Each specific exhibit comprises its own sub-series. Graphic material includes photographic material depicting artifacts used in the exhibit, artifacts at other institutions that could potentially be used for exhibit, staff involved in exhibit, events held surrounding the opening and closing of an exhibit including any special ceremonies and other people and items related to the exhibit. Textual material includes label text, research conducted in order to strengthen the exhibits, correspondence between McLennan and cultural heritage institutions, administrative records (i.e. budgets and finances, schedules and time frames) and public relations materials.
Subseries 1 through subseries 64 represent an earlier time frame when McLennan’s role at MOA was more related to exhibit and graphic design than to actively curating exhibits. Subseries 65 through subseries 81 represent McLennan’s increased role as a curator of exhibits which he often researched, curated and did the exhibit design.

Series contains records pertaining to the Canada Foundation for Innovation grant named Partnership of Peoples that was awarded to the Museum of Anthropology in 2007. This project is often simply referred to by museum staff as 'the renewal'. David Cunningham was the lead project designer. His records include the architectural drawings from Stantec and Laboratorio Museotecnico Goppion, research and planning on furniture, lighting, locks, and security. In addition are photographs taken of all stages of the project.
